#Currently

Currently........

  • I'm swimming in school assignments that are not only time consuming, but also confusing as FUDGE.
  • Trying to figure out a life routine that coincides with my night work schedule. Who knew working nights could screw your life up so much? Not me.

  • Still trying to feel my way around in the home decorating game..... this ish is more complicated than I expected. I'm determined though!
  • Trying to figure out how to wear these wigs I just bought.......another complicated thing I've signed myself up for lol
SO......what's #currently going on with you?

Longing for a vacation....

Man, I wish this was my view right now...... Nice warm sun on my body with a cool breeze blowing while I gaze out at the clear blue water..... Le' sigh..... If only.

Instead I'm hustling and bustling about: work, school work, eat, shower, sleep, repeat. It kinda sucks, but I'm in beast mode right now with trying to finish up all these little activities we got going on. As a treat to myself for accomplishing one of my goals (finishing school at the end of the year) I am going to plan a small trip to a serene location... hopefully like the picture! I can't wait! Until then, it's the books for me.

What have you guys been up to lately? Anything cool or exciting happening in your lives? I wanna know!

How did I get this way?

Not only today but everyday, actually.

I don't know what's come over me, I've gotten a real bad case of the lazies and I would rather post up on the couch or on the floor in the living room ALL DAY than do anything of substance. It's kinda sad and a little scary to realize since I have always been the type to want to do something outside of the house all the time........ Maybe I'm about to get sick?

Is the "senioritis syndrome" kicking in since I only have a few more weeks left of school?
Let's hope that's it.

Guys, this is extremely unbecoming of me; I'm usually a busy bee! I don't know how to react to this sudden laziness lol

Hopefully it's just a passing feeling and I will perk back up soon..... I can't afford to not feel like studying when I have a final coming up!

I need some energy boosters in my life.........

Idle chit chat

September is proving to be a little more busier than I anticipated...... I got a group presentation to do, midterm, topic info to generate for my church group, an information sheet to create for a workshop I'm helping with and a paper due ALL before Oct. 1st...... These fingers are going to have cramps from all the writing and typing I'll be doing!

But you know what? I love to be busy so I don't mind it at all!

The company that provided the photographer and videographer sent a preview of our wedding video today; I've already watched it like 8 times lol..... I can't wait to see the entire thing, I know I'm bound to cry!

After not being in a gym in like a month, I finally dragged my buns in there today; getting there was a struggle but I after I was done I felt so good...... must make that a continuous habit! Besides the gym takes their money whether I decide to go or not, might as well get my monies worth.

I'm not sure if this is weird or not: ever since I got my engagement ring I've noticed that I pay attention to whether or not a lady has on a wedding ring.... and then I try and analysis the ring without looking like a finger obsessed weirdo. Do engagement/wedding rings do that to other girls, turn them into ring watchers? Hope I'm NOT alone on that.

I feel as though I am neglecting my first love: reading books. Over the summer I thought I was going to be able to read until my hear burst but then I was selected to take summer school and the only thing I ever had time to read was my class material. Once it was over, I just knew I would pick up on reading..... but the wedding finalizing took over my life in that moment and then.... life just took over. Making a personal goal to read 1 book a week for the rest of the year......  I'm currently reading a pretty good e-book from the amazon bookstore; I need to make it my mission to finish reading it by the end of the week.

I guess I'll stop rambling and wind down for the day.....  Hope you guys enjoy the rest of your day!

Idle Chit Chat

                 Idle chit chat

This is my first round of finals in the semester so it's study/cram time for me. A smarter person would have taken last week (which was spring break for me) and studied real good so that they are uber prepared for the exams..... I wasn't that person. I had to handle wedding business for majority of my break so that only left the weekend for me to "try" to study. Fail. I ended up being busy most of the weekend as well....... Glad I actually feel confident about these tests otherwise I would be sick to my stomach right now lol

Sooooo..... I accidentally poured washer fluid into the brake system of my car the other day. According to Lewis that was among one of the worse things I could have done to my car O.o Ooops? For the record though, the cap is NOT labeled "brake system" it just says clean the filler before removing or some ish like that....... It wasn't alot of fluid but Lewis said that no other fluid except brake fluid is supposed to go in there so I had to go get my brakes flushed. The dude was tryna really scare me by saying "Oh we can't be too sure that your brakes will ever work properly again" Then why am I giving you my money if you can't guarantee that you can get it all out??? Anyways it's panning out to be an all day affair; there's no telling when I'll get my car back. I was told not to ever get under the hood of my car again........ Deal.

After I take my last final I plan to do some major chilling....... and spring cleaning! This place need a refreshing organize and I'll have a little over a week to do it. Can't wait.

My sew-in is doing okay, I think I'm going to go ahead and take it out thought. The thread is getting loose and it's almost time for a relaxer so I need to wash my hair properly before then. I realized I need to use a chelating shampoo on my hair because of the hair water here; this will help my hair retain moisture a whole lot better than it has been. I am still having moisture problems!

I guess I'll go start dinner for myself...... Nobody else is going to do, and plus I'm carless at the moment so I really don't have a choice of to-go foods.

Good day All!!

Idle Chit Chat

Today has been mildly eventful for me. I woke up early thinking I would get go ahead and get a head start on washing clothes (since the laundry room gets busy on the weekends) but I actually just ended up lounging in bed for a little over an hr before starting.... I owed that to myself for studying hard all week for my exams and my long day at work yesterday. Today I thought I would chill out and take time to do some of the things I have been putting off lately but here I am, 12hrs later and I've only really accomplished 2 1/2 things on my mental list.......Ugh, weekend why have you betrayed me????

Good news though: Lewis comes home to "visit" tomorrow. I hate saying that he visits, but he's technically been at work most of the year which (in my mind) constitutes him coming home visiting......I digress from that. Although I have school, we plan to make the most of the time that he's home.

Omgoodness! The Walking Dead! Is anybody as addicted to it as I am? Last weeks' episode had me biting my nails in frustration..... how dare the Govna'! Can't wait til the newest episode comes on this week!

Have you ever bought something in a store and a few days/weeks later found the same something online for cheaper?  Well did you then order that something and proceed to return the one that you bought in the store? This has happened to me recently and it bothers me to return the item after opening and using it, BUT it won't bother me to get my $50 back and only spend $8 online!!!! You know what? I actually feel better already......

I need to do an update on Operation: All wedding everything..... Look for it coming up!

Kind of like, whatever.

My love had been away from me for going on 3 wks and I absolutely HATE IT. He's been gone before and I didn't really mind other than sometimes when I would get a bit lonely, but the difference is that then Lewis was on a set schedule; 2 wks on and 1 wk off. So by the time I began to really miss him, he would be on his way home. This time he doesn't know when he will get to come home. It super sucks! I know he's beginning to get frustrated with it all being up in the air because every day he'll say "hopefully they let me know something today" ....... Aaaw, babe! Hang in there :( (me too)

I digress.....

My school schedule allows me to have a full day off (well really two, but I work on Fridays generally) the way I spent it yesterday was mainly housework and school project stuff. Literally, I only walked out of my house twice both times for food lol. I figured since I would be home all day that I would whip out the shower cap and baggy my hair while I worked.

And you know what? It's still on as I type! Ha! I thought about just leaving it on and wearing my knit cap (noted in photo) to class this evening but I don't want to scratch my head and the person next to me look up like "did I just hear plastic rubbing?"

Lately you guys, I've low-key had some fierce baby fever. It's not helping that I'm back in this maternal rotation where all I see is baby bumps and infants galore...... Maybe I SHOULD be a little more glad that Lewis isn't home right now....?

I've been on some "whatever" type stuff these past few weeks......At work they have reduced my floor hrs so next month I am only on the schedule a whole 2 DAYS. Anybody else would have a definite problem with only been scheduled two days for the entire month, but I looked at it and was like "oh, well whatever. More time to study or do other stuff." Before the 21-day fast I probably would have concerned..... with my paycheck, but since doing the fast I am learning to not be consumed with things that I really shouldn't be worried about. My focus right now is getting through this class, finishing the semester, finalizing things for the wedding.... Not wondering how I can squeeze in a shift or two during the next pay period to have a good check. I will level with you all, it's hard not to wonder about that but I know that this will definitely help me become a greater person. It's amazing what 21 days of just listening and following what God has to say can do for you!

One step at a time!
It's lunchtime and my computer is going dead (as usual).....  So food is next on the agenda lol
I got class in a little while and I still need to nap, Zumba and shower before then!

Toodles :)

Idle Chit chat

Forgive my little absence, school started back this week and I have made it my personal business to make sure I am SHARP this semester. No more slacking for me.... I can't afford to slip further behind.

Here's some of the stuff I've had my hands in lately.........

Since I discovering the state of my ends a few weeks ago, I have been looking all  over the place for little this and that remedies to help me deal with them. I remembered a while back that I had come across a blogger who talked about moisturizing her ends using the "baggy method" and her entire head with the "Greenhouse effect." The baggy method is simply that: you moisturize and seal your ends and then you wrap a baggy, ziploc, sandwhich or grocery, around it which is supposed to contain the moisture and really moisturize the hair. With the greenhouse effect method you are to M&S the enitre head and then you could either use a grocery bag or a shower cap to cover it up. It seems like it would have the same effect as DC-ing with no heat; you would let the heat from scalp do the moisturizing.

I chose to do the baggy method for my ends, since that's my problem area.

My little knot

A day and a half later, result of bantu knots pulled into a banana clip

I was thoroughly surprised at how moisturized my hair was. It was still damp but that may have been because I sprayed my hair with water before I M&S. When I did the bantu knots a day later my ends were still pretty soft, not dry and stiff like they have been in the past. This method has just found it's way into my regimen!

Not sure if I've ever told you guys but San Antonio's water is extremely hard and disgusting..... that's the main reason why we were drinking bottled water at first but switched over to a filtered water pitcher by Brita exactly like this:

After we switched I never thought twice about it being the same water we showered with until I started to notice how dull my hair look all the time, then I also thought back to how my ends started becoming more and more brittle shortly after I moved here and how that lead up to a haircut. Not to mention how dry my skin was all the time..... needless to say it took me an entire year to figure out that the water has been reeking havoc in my life! So I purchased a filtered shower head by Culligan and let me tell you, this thing is the BUSINESS.

It has a powerful flow and it spits out A LOT of water! With 5 flow settings, I can have 5 types a showers a week lol.....The only thing I don't like about it is I think because it does spray such a large amount of water compared to the shower head that came in the apt, the hot water doesn't last as long anymore....Maybe about 10-15 minutes and then it starts to get cooler. It's a bummer, especially if I need to do a shower/hair wash combo; guess I'll have to choose which one to do first for now until I figure out a better system. Here's how it looks in my shower:

It's been up for about a week, but the very first time I used it I immediately noticed a difference in my skin so I know it's a keeper. I can't wait for Lewis to come home and try it out!

That's really the bulk of what I've been up to lately......

What's been up with you lately? Get your hands on any good projects? Find any good deals? Let's chat!

Idle chit chat

Yesterday my job asked me if I could come fill in on the night shift because they were short staffed. Being the helpful person that I am I said "sure" because they needed the help AND I've sort of secretly been wanting to see how the night shift flows because the on the day shift, we do A LOT with/for the patients. I mean I heard that day/night shift are pretty much the same but in my eyes it always seems like the day shift does all the work and the night shift just kinda chills most of the night cause everyone is either sleep or on their way there...... Ugh, I'm babbling. Sorry.

ANYWAYS.

Because I was unaware that I would be working an overnight shift until about 4pm, I didn't take a nap or anything before the phone call and I had to be in at 6:45..... so last night sucked. But around 2:30 the charge nurse let me go home because they didn't have as many patients as they thought they would. I got home and crashed around 3:30 and popped up at effin' 8:15, and could not (for the life of me) go back to sleep! So here I am now, on the couch sleepy-eyed and tired lol.... I'll prolly try and take and nap later.

I plan to be super productive this week, I mean it's not like I have to study or anything that will keep me from doing other stuff (thank ya Jesus) so there won't be an excuse for why I didn't get all my MRM goals achieved this time!

I made a wig over the weekend, a curly one, but I'm still modifying it so after I finish it up there will be a post up about the entire journey of making my first wig.

Seriously looking into updating my wardrobe, correctly this time. I found some tips and must-haves that I hadn't known about...... Be looking out for that post as well!

I have been considering a giveaway here on the blog but I'm not sure how to set that up just yet; so sit tight on the idea.

......Guess I'll go be productive somewhere..... Until next time :)

Did you know.....

Today is the:

Yep! Today is the day when you can get great deals STEALS online ALL day and most places even free shipping! Websites do this the Monday after Thanksgiving and it is freaking awesome! If you knew then what are you waiting on? And if you didn't know: You're welcome :) I want to say this started up just a few years back, probably to give everyone else that wasn't out being railroaded on Black Friday a chance to catch some deals as well, or for the ones for who had to work and weren't able to get out. I've been an avid internet shopper a while so this is right up my alley; hell I've been up since 7:30 checking out different websites to shop on lol. And as a bonus to myself, I've been shopping through Ebates which gives me cash back on purchases I make from certain stores. #Winning!

So go get your shop on! The deals only last one day!!!!!

Idle Chit Chat

*We are back from our little holiday trip to East TX! We tried to keep it as low key as possible by really only seeing a few people (besides family) while out there..... Lewis didn't want to stay as long as I thought he would which turned out good for both of us! You miss your bed when you aren't in it! Lol

*I am officially back to square one with a food menu for the reception. We were supposed to meet up with one of the managers at a restaurant we we thinking of going with, but it never happened. I asked Lewis if he still wanted to go with that place and he says "nah, I don't really want that". (side eye) It was HIS idea in the first place.

*David's Bridal are talking about discontinuing some of the bridesmaid dress styles and colors for the season.... It worries me because none of my BM have ordered their dresses yet. The day is long way off, but I will be super pissed if we have to go back and pick another style or I have to change one of my colors because somebody didn't get their dress in time.

*I may need to go get a corrective relaxer. Okay maybe not a corrective, but I definitely need to go somewhere and let them put my relaxer in on my next go round. My hair is very under processed; it's only really manageable if I flat iron the roots.....and I don't want to continue to put heat on my hair to get it to cooperate (I'm only 5wks post). Actually rethinking the entire self-relaxer movement I started. It's just IMHO the price of getting a relaxer is  getting more and more expensive and I just really don't want anyone trying to coerce me into cutting my hair.

*Since the holiday is over, I have an exam every week til school is out to look forward too....... This shall be interesting.

The plan for the rest of this sunny Sunday is to study a bit and lounge around.....

Let's chit chat!
Got anything you want to talk about? Share any plans? I want to know :)

This lady.......

Since I no longer have a class to attend on Tuesdays I decided yesterday to pick up a shift a my job. I was placed on a floor I was unfamiliar with so at lunch time I figured I would just sit down in the cafeteria and eat rather than go back to the break room with strangers. Well I don't remember if I told you guys this but my clinical class comes to the hospital I work at...... and of course I end of spotting one of my classmates in the cafeteria. It was sort of awkward cause I knew I was going to be asked why I wasn't in class but up at work. I explained the sitch and then we sat down together to eat. One of my other classmates walks in and sits down next to me and we all start chit chatting.....  THEN......

*Cue my instructor*
In walks my teacher.....

I didn't really pay any attention to her at first because she usually gets her food and goes back into one of the breakrooms, but apparently this day she spotted us and invited herself to sit. It didn't phase me at all that she wanted to sit with us- she came over, spoke to me, put her soup and drink down and then

PICKED UP ONE OF MY DAMN FRIES AND PUT IT IN HER MOUTH!!!!!

Yea, no seriously! And it happened so fast I don't think it registered to her right away, if at all. Just took a fry off my plate and shoved it in her pie hole, like we kick it that. We don't by the way. (naturally cause she dropped me from her class remember?????) How does that make it okay for you to touch my food?? When it happened I made a face like "trick, what has gotten into you?" When she walked off to get something else I looked over at one of my classmates and said "did she just take one of fries?" My classmate was just nodding her head and cracking up...... granted it was funny, but I was still a little shocked that my teacher had just "debo-ed" my food. *Debo= strong arming or taking anything just because you carry a heavy presence..... definition based of a character in the fictional based movie "Friday" starring Ice Cube and Chris Tucker..... must see movie to truly understand definition LOL*

I couldn't wait to get home and tell Lewis, I knew he would enjoy the story- and he did lol The nerve of some people......

Idle chit chat

I have been up since before the sun decided to rise lurking my school student page. Spring registration is today and I want to make sure that I get the time slots I want and the teachers I want.....I bet everybody in my nursing program is up right now watching the clock; it's like a rat race. This is so sad. Lol And the crazy thing is, I don't think registration starts until 8 a.m! I'll prolly go back to bed after this.

Speaking of nursing school, last week I had a bit of a set back. In all my clinical classes we are required to take and pass a dosage calculation exam for that level..... I am not one to make up excuses but math is one of things I am not good in at all. My problem is not working the problem out, it's recalling the correct formula to use (and no they don't give us a formula sheet, we must remember all the formulas by memory)  So I take my exam, and I didn't pass. They give us one more time to retake it and if we do not make the passing grade, then we get dropped from the course. Well, I retook it last week and.....I missed it by one question. FML. I was so frustrated with myself when my teacher showed me the test! Tried to be strong and show as less emotion as possible but the more I stared at my test the more my eyes watered.......As far as I know, I have been dropped from my clinical class which means that I will have to repeat it in the spring; which puts me behind my class....which means that I may not be able to graduate on time. I'm okay with it now, it just sucks that I have to repeat it because of a math exam not because I didn't do the work...

That's life for ya.

All I can do is focus on what I'm left to deal with which is my lecture class........ and keep my chin up.

Idle chit chat

Have you ever been so tired of studying that at one point you think you are studying, but really you were just staring blindly at the pages? Like your mind turns off and literally will not absorb anymore information....... That's what I'm currently dealing with for one of my final exams. Seriously, my brain said "girl, we are at capacity with that ish!!" There is nothing more I can study for this class so I officially gave up as of 12:05 this afternoon lol. My final is tomorrow at 1 so maybe I'll get up early then and give it one more try....

I have no idea where to begin (again) with the wedding planning! When I stopped I was contemplating designs for save the date cards/ engagement pics...... Down to 8months on Friday and so.much.to.do.

Why is it that whenever it's a few days before you get a relaxer that your scalp decides it wants to act ultra sensitive and give you a bad case of the itchies???!?!?!? I have been "patting" and rubbing like a mad woman all day cause my scalp feels like something is crawling on it!! Is that subconscious?

I'm thinking of doing "Idle chit chat" posts on the regular just to get some conversation flowing, what do you think? I love feedback so post your idle chat thoughts down in the comment section!!
