#Currently

Currently........

  • I'm swimming in school assignments that are not only time consuming, but also confusing as FUDGE.
  • Trying to figure out a life routine that coincides with my night work schedule. Who knew working nights could screw your life up so much? Not me.

  • Still trying to feel my way around in the home decorating game..... this ish is more complicated than I expected. I'm determined though!
  • Trying to figure out how to wear these wigs I just bought.......another complicated thing I've signed myself up for lol
SO......what's #currently going on with you?

Vent session

I've been very busy lately. Trying to organize my life and get a routine down since I'm a working gal now...... It's still a bit of a struggle. I'm too tired most days to do housework and that further makes me feel as though I'm not on the ball with managing my time. *Sigh* I need to get it together.

I believe I'm still in what's called the "transitional phase." Phasing out of being a student with lots and LOTS of time on my hands to clean and manage the home, available for my husband at all times and eager to do at the drop of a hat among numerous other things.... to a career woman with less time spent in the house and more time spent away. To be honest, I don't know how much I like it right now. This very well could be me just struggling with the fact that I haven't mastered my organization strategy yet, and with due time I'll get it all down in a way that satisfies me. Until then..... just keep me in your prayers!

I know it's only a matter of time before everything will smooth itself out.....right now it just seems chaotic in my eyes. What a journey!

My hair, currently

I realized, while grazing over the types of posts I create, that I don't speak on my hair too much. Not that anything extremely exciting is going on with it right now, but when your on a hair journey you never pass up an opportunity to talk HAIR!

How many weeks post: 5 whole weeks..... My stretch seems to be crawling right now.
Last wash: Last week by myself. Wanted to go to the salon, but at the last minute decided not to.
Deep conditioned with: Lekair cholesterol plus conditioning creme and Aphogee 2 minute keratin re-constructor (my protein DC) and sprayed some Aphogee green tea re-constructor on as well. DC 15 min w/heat
Moisturized: Herbal Essence Long term relationship leave-in, Castor/Peppermint oil mix, Elasta QP mango butter [ LOC method]
Air dry/blow dry/hooded dryer: Blow dried on low warm setting
My hair feels: Kind of dry. With the weather being all over the place lately (cold AMs with warm days and cold nights or vice versa) my hair is a bit confused, I want to pull out my s-curl but I can't be too sure if it's safe to use all the time.
What I'm loving about my hair right now: How full and thick it feels and looks. I hadn't seen my hair look like this in about a year.
What I'm having a problem with: Theses blasted ends. It's all old under-processed hair, so without heat it's a frizzy mess! Also, my hair is too short to put in a bun so I'm not able to properly protect my ends...It's a bit frustrating.
Any reason to do a style: Had a job fair to attend, so I pulled out the hot rollers I got for Christmas.
Current style: Mid-point ponytail..... #blah
What can be done differently next wash: I need to find a store that sells coconut oil; I want to use it as a pre-shampoo.

That's the 411 on my hair right now..... How is your hair journey going? Since it's cooler out, what types of steps are you taking to protect your hair?

If you liked this post feel free to comment on it, and/or link up with your own current hair status post! I would love to read how your hair is doing!! :)

Series: Updating my life

I should've posted this a couple of weeks ago but lately I've been barely getting on my computer and when I do it's only for a few minutes......

ANYWHO

I recently decided to get a protective style to get me through most  the rest of nursing school. I figured a sew in would be best because it was versatile and I could go as long or short as I want to..... I ended up with this one:

What you think? It's simple yet chic.....I can flirt it up when I need to or tone it down by putting it into a half up half down ponytail. I like it alot and my husband loves it...... it's crazy because he doesn't want me to cut me actual hair but loves the short hair do's on me. Go figure.

My plan is to leave it up for another few weeks then take it down and prepare for a relaxer......

My hair, currently.

Remember when I talked about getting a bob? I went ahead and took the plunge and got it installed last weekend. At first I didn't like the length or the amount of hair left out to blend, but with all new things I try I had to let it grow on me. Now I love my hair! Best thing is everyone around me love my hair too (thought it was real!) which puts more confidence in my hair style.....Lewis didn't even recognize me at first glance ::role play anyone?::

I plan to leave the hair in for about 5-6wks. Hopefully it lasts that long without much problem. Now to get my sew-in regimen together! If anybody has in tips on how to take care of your hair while wearing a sew-in PLEASE don't hesitate to comment! Thanks!

Idle Chit chat

Forgive my little absence, school started back this week and I have made it my personal business to make sure I am SHARP this semester. No more slacking for me.... I can't afford to slip further behind.

Here's some of the stuff I've had my hands in lately.........

Since I discovering the state of my ends a few weeks ago, I have been looking all  over the place for little this and that remedies to help me deal with them. I remembered a while back that I had come across a blogger who talked about moisturizing her ends using the "baggy method" and her entire head with the "Greenhouse effect." The baggy method is simply that: you moisturize and seal your ends and then you wrap a baggy, ziploc, sandwhich or grocery, around it which is supposed to contain the moisture and really moisturize the hair. With the greenhouse effect method you are to M&S the enitre head and then you could either use a grocery bag or a shower cap to cover it up. It seems like it would have the same effect as DC-ing with no heat; you would let the heat from scalp do the moisturizing.

I chose to do the baggy method for my ends, since that's my problem area.

My little knot

A day and a half later, result of bantu knots pulled into a banana clip

I was thoroughly surprised at how moisturized my hair was. It was still damp but that may have been because I sprayed my hair with water before I M&S. When I did the bantu knots a day later my ends were still pretty soft, not dry and stiff like they have been in the past. This method has just found it's way into my regimen!

Not sure if I've ever told you guys but San Antonio's water is extremely hard and disgusting..... that's the main reason why we were drinking bottled water at first but switched over to a filtered water pitcher by Brita exactly like this:

After we switched I never thought twice about it being the same water we showered with until I started to notice how dull my hair look all the time, then I also thought back to how my ends started becoming more and more brittle shortly after I moved here and how that lead up to a haircut. Not to mention how dry my skin was all the time..... needless to say it took me an entire year to figure out that the water has been reeking havoc in my life! So I purchased a filtered shower head by Culligan and let me tell you, this thing is the BUSINESS.

It has a powerful flow and it spits out A LOT of water! With 5 flow settings, I can have 5 types a showers a week lol.....The only thing I don't like about it is I think because it does spray such a large amount of water compared to the shower head that came in the apt, the hot water doesn't last as long anymore....Maybe about 10-15 minutes and then it starts to get cooler. It's a bummer, especially if I need to do a shower/hair wash combo; guess I'll have to choose which one to do first for now until I figure out a better system. Here's how it looks in my shower:

It's been up for about a week, but the very first time I used it I immediately noticed a difference in my skin so I know it's a keeper. I can't wait for Lewis to come home and try it out!

That's really the bulk of what I've been up to lately......

What's been up with you lately? Get your hands on any good projects? Find any good deals? Let's chat!

My hair currently

How many weeks: 10wks post

Last wash: Sunday

What was used: V05 moisturizing shampoo; DC'd with Nairobi Humecta-sil moisture replenishing conditioner; finished out with some random conditioner I had sitting around. *SN: trying to get rid of a lot of products from my PJism days so everything is sort of in rotation right now*

Hair state: Dry. No other way to describe it..... I think it was one of those conditioners that my hair didn't like too well.

What I'm using to moisturize/seal: S-curl, water and sometimes an oil.... if not that then Silk elements moisturizer (in a jar)

Plan to relax: In 2wks (and I CAN NOT WAIT)

This is what my hair is looking like at the moment:

I am trying to finish strong with this stretch. It just feels like the longest one I've done in a while..... could be because of the issues I had with my last relaxer not going so well. I am debating whether or not I should try to do my own again or find a decent salon to go to. I don't want to give up on doing my own hair, but that last episode has left me a little apprehensive about trying it again...... I don't know we'll see how I'm feeling in about 2 wks!!

So what is your hair looking like currently?
