Much needed break

I have been thoroughly enjoying this mini-break I'm on!! I had my finals the earlier part of this week and my next class doesn't start until next Wednesday, which has gives me about 5-6 days of free time to do whatever lol. And the timing was perfect because Lewis got his week off the day I finished my final and goes back to work the day I start school, which means that we get to spend some much needed time together without me having to worry about school or work..... YASSSS :)

Today we got together with some of our coupled up friends from church and had lunch at this really nice shopping center/mall and then just sort of hung out, sight seeing and enjoying the pretty weather. It was nice to hang out with other couples, and also nicer for me cause I hadn't really gotten to experience the couple date before. For making good grades in my classes, Lewis let me pick out any pair of shoes I wanted so I got some Jessica Simpson heels..... This is the start of a beautiful relationship..... I'm already in love with the shoes!

Lewis and I are trying to get the most out of out week together: we recently picked out our wedding rings, plan to sit down and make a semi-final guest list, going to get him fixed for his tuxedo....and lay around be lazy together..... He wanted me to know that I was supposed to give him all my attention while he was home. lol such a man baby.

Now more than ever am I trying to get more girlier...... After being called "basic" by my friend while shopping I became fully aware of how, for lack of a better word, BASIC I really was in a fashion sense. I tend to gravitate more towards comfortable, generic style clothing and I really want to get away from that..... I just don't know how! So I am slowly working towards finding my own little style and building on it. Pray for me lol......


We've had a pretty great day, and now Lewis is out with his friend for a while so I guess I'll get dinner going and just chill out for the rest of the evening......

Holiday love

I hope everybody had a great Christmas holiday and got/gave some good gifts! I think Lewis and I gave each other a pretty surprising Christmas this year :) I ended up getting him some lounge clothes, a guitar case that he needed and a laptop set (I'm on it right now as I type!) He got me a XBOX 360 with a Kinect (which I have been secretly lusting over for about a month lol) and this really pretty pendant necklace that I have been wearing everyday since I opened it!

 Lewis and I spent the holiday here in San Antonio this year. I could tell that he seemed a bit home sick after he talked to his mom and sister though. I knew the feeling he had;  all my family lives 5 states away and when they first moved I really felt it around the holidays.... I empathized with him but I am not entirely thrilled with spending every holiday traveling back to East TX when I don't really want to....so I hope he doesn't decide to want to do that.

We ended up opening gifts on Christmas Eve because, well, we were bored and neither one of us could hold out any longer on what we got one another. Plus, we don't have any kids so I was like "why wait?" It turned out great and will probably be our tradition from now on. I just love how we are starting our own traditions :)

I had to work the day after Christmas, but I am off until New Year's Eve! Much needed..... Time to lounge :)

Relaxer update July '12

Relaxed earlier this week after my usual 11-12 week stretch, the only MAJOR difference was that this time I didn't go to a salon..... I tackled it myself! So, here are the results:

As you can tell, my NG didn't get relaxed hardly at all......... there is a bit of a story behind that. Last month my stylist sent out a mass text telling everyone that she had moved out of town, which left me with two options: find another stylist to relax my hair who wants to constantly cut my hair or just figure out how to do it myself. 

Naturally I chose the most cost effective method. :)

SN: Revlon regular lye relaxer was used for this session.

I enlisted the help of my fiance'.... only to quickly realize that, next time that shouldn't be the best idea. HA! He claimed that he had helped put on relaxers many times with his sisters.... but maybe that was a VERY LONG TIME AGO because I don't think he fully grasped the idea of the pace you have to maintain in order to apply and smooth the relaxer throughout the hair. So we weren't able to smooth much of any of my hair after my sweet fiance took his SWEET time applying the relaxer to his part of my hair :/... As you can tell from my not-so-relaxed roots. And yes it looks like this all over my head..... 

I'm not knocking the ladies that texlax their hair...... but I hate this!!! I am able to comb thru my hair

but it's not straight ANYWHERE! Not even my edges :( I look about 3 or 4 wks post.

Nothing I can do to correct it for another 12 wks either.....

On the flip side, I got some good growth! And as you can tell, I DON'T NEED A DAMN TRIM! Lol.... Stylists, smh.

The random things that I've been doing...... *PIC HEAVY*

Basically all summer I've been doing lots of little random things..... today is a good a day as any to share them!

We are currently putting back all of our $1 bills to build up extra money for a rainy day..... at first we were just sticking them in the change jar but after a while it became a bit of a hassle to do that and we didn't want the money to just be out in the open like that. I had to come up with something..... and this is what I ended up with:

 

That's and old pickle jar, acrylic paints and flowers from Michael's... oh and some of our dollars :)

The pool was really calling me one HOT ass afternoon so..... I answered it in my 2-piece and a straw hat! 

Downed about 2 dozen of these in a week's span..... I'm an addict :/ AND PROUD.

Cruising thru Target one day looking for a simple lip gloss and ended up with not only that but a eyebrow/eyelash gel and a lipstick that I was unaware of until AFTER I opened it 

(thought it was a lipgloss) but it barely shows up so it's all good!

My baby cakes surprised me and came home early! I was elated to have him home again :)

It was time to twist this wig! LAWDAMERCY....

I use Organic Root Stimulator lock and twist gel and a little bit of DAX bees wax

Took those braids out..... they lasted 6wks! 11wks post.

Did a lunch date with one of my friends....

Lewis was patiently waiting on dinner one night..... and wanted to make the table pretty. Love him:D

We went old school the other day and shot a lil dice.... on a shoe box! Ha.... really playing too....

In a nutshell this has been my summer so far.... not all boring days I guess. What about yours?

Spur of the moment anyone??

Although the last time I was here I claimed I wouldn't be coming back anytime soon........ my acute boredom led me to Hubs-to-be workplace town yesterday.

It's actually better this time around than the last. I've been studying out in the Blazin' heat and I even hit up the Kickapoo casino earlier. ::I hit $120 on the penny machines while I was there... played back sixty of it, and lost lol::  Also Lewis isn't being so over protective and letting me scout about freely; Sa-weet!


 We are sposed to walk across the border tonight.... I'm super excited about that! I'll make sure and post some pics as we take them too!

Early bird catches..... no sleep?

I've been up since about 5:30 a.m! I made breakfast ::to go::  for my hunny bun this morning cause he had to be to work before 7.....I'm such a kick-ass wife-to-be! After he left I intended to go back to sleep until my alarm went off BUT here it is an hour and a half later and I'm still up :( Good thing I went to sleep early last night or I would be one grumpy person.

I mean to post as soon as I got on the computer, but I got so wrapped up in looking at everyone else's blog that now I gotta make this short and I gotta speed type; gotta start getting ready for school soon. Shoot.

This flex I have my clinical rotation at the beginning of the week and lecture the following days..... today is Thursday ::Already?::  I think that arrangement makes my week go by really fast.... excellent :) It's supposed to be HOT for the rest of the week here, mid to upper 80's time to pull out the capris and bermuda shorts!! I personally am glad the cold weather is over..... I hate being cold!! Remember ladies: shivering is not cute! Lol.

Well, dangit, my alarm just went off..... guess that means I better start getting ready for class! Hope everybody has a fabulous day!! One more day til the weekend :)

Back in school

School is in full swing for me right now! It just started back Monday and already I've learned how to start an I.V and taken 2 practice math tests for calculating I.V medications... and that was just in clinical! I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Instructor, and lucky for HER I'm in her lecture class as well :) I do believe I am going to thoroughly enjoy this class and being a Level II student..... I get to do so much!

Right now I'm sitting up at my job, quietly waiting on the moment when I can sprint out of here. We are dead today, like literally the only people in this place are the employees! And Lewis didn't make the situation better by telling me that he just made it home.... Now I really want to jet; missed him. I just gotta beast out the next 43 minutes and then I'm home-free.... it just feels like forever though.

SOMEBODY GIVE ME MAGICAL STRENGTH!

Bye Spring break. Why does it have to end????

I had a HORRIBLE sleep last nite!! I watched friggin' "Revenge of the Leprechaun" on SyFy and visions of that gremlin-like creature standing next to my bed kept popping up in my head throughout the nite :( ::I suffer from over-reactive imagination syndrome, especially during sleep hours.......Okay, so it's not a real diagnosis but I bet you can't tell my brain that when it's conjuring up all of these off the wall dreams while I sleep!!:: That plus I have this annoying stuffy nose and dry itchy throat goin on..... sleeping last night was out of the question! 

Oh, how I stray from topics so easily.......... Lol.

The title is basically what I've been saying to myself allll weekend about spring break. My spring break is OFFICIALLY OFFICIALLY over today. School starts back bright and early for me at 06:30......yay. I am excited that I am a Level II student though.... I get to draw blood and start I.V's in this class.... definitely looking forward to that! I do wish I could have another day or three off though. That too much to ask?

I forgot to tell you guys how my spring break went! Well if you are thinking I did some pretty interesting stuff..... you are sooo not right! I went to visit my fiance while he was on the job; almost not the best idea. He was so worried that something would happen to me while I was there ::he works VERY VERY close to the border of Mexico, like I could literally drive down the road, park my car and walk across the border and be in another country. How cool is that??:: that it was like he didn't want me to do anything but stay in the hotel while he was at work......but he was at work ALL DAY. I mean I know he was just tryna make sure nothing happened cause he couldn't be with me but, gol-lee! I did get to sneak to the casino that had out there called Lucky Eagle. Ya girl hit over $300 in less than an hour!! I was sooooo excited cause I had never won that kind of money gambling, that I left right after that! Ha! Not about to lose my money trying to play it back!! See, I was smart/cheap :)

That was really the highlight of my spring break.... I came home after a few days of being there and haven't gotten into anything else since. Didn't go to any St. Patti's day parties either..... apparently they had all the festivities [like the parade and stuff] that morning and I knew nothing about them until later!! Sucks. Oh well....

Mind Right Monday!!

Happy first of the week ya'll! I'm officially on spring break starting today.... double yay! I have decided to go visit my fiance at the job site for a few days ::I'm such a good wife-to-be:: Only sucky thing about that is there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO OUT THERE!!! My options would be either the hotel or wal-mart o__O Yea, loads of fun. But I want to see my boo so sacrifice is the name of the game here!

Bored.

I'm sitting up here at my WS job on a Saturday morning, bored to pieces. We opened at 9- it's only 9:35 and I already wish I was somewhere else. But I guess it's a good thing that I came in cause the poor shift supervisor is running around like she's on the verge of a panic attack. Lol. People showing up late, others calling in and students filing in  left and right for their tutoring sessions.......I feel for her. If it gets too crazy, I'm sure she'll be pulling me away from my lovely front desk position to help out; I won't mind..... this time.

Nothing too eventful happened to me this week, hence the lack of posts. Class, class, studying, clinicals, and work in between. Gearing up for this last exam next Tuesday and finals that follows right behind it first week in March, then it SPRING BREAK!

Don't worry though, I WON'T be doing anything eventful :(
I still don't have many friends out here, and the two girls that I kinda hang out with (when scheduling works out) will probably work all that week so I can almost count them out for hooking up with. Lewis will be back at work before the break kicks in..... So I'll be home, alone, by myself , ONCE.AGAIN. To be honest, I don't really know if am sure that I'm not feeling Lewis going out of town for work all the time. He's home for 6 days so our time is always limited, and just when I adjust he's getting ready to go..... Sucks to say the least. I'm goin to keep a straight face though cause there is not much I can do about it, for now.

On to lighter news: I am so in love with my Kindle fire! I'm always on that bad boy; reading, playing games, downloading more books or playing more games Lol. Amazon has this feature for some of their books for prime members where you can "check them out" like at a library? For FREE!! It's an okay feature, the only thing I don't like is that you can only check out one book a month.... at a regular library you can check like 12 books at a time and return them when you want for more; they need to do a collabo with the public libraries about their current policy! Despite that, they have a ton of good books for $.99 or less so I don't really mind.

I mentioned above that I'll doing finals in about 2 wks.... well that's because in my nursing program our classes only last 8wks. So this class will end and a brand new one will begin after spring break..... And I'll be a level 2 student! Can't wait for that title.......

Celebrating early

So I told you that Lewis came home last week right? Well he has to go right back out of town Tuesday......

On friggin' VALENTINE'S DAY!!
::mad face::


Technically he'll be home all that day, but I have an exam and then I have work AND I'm trying to get to that interview at the hospital that day....needless to say I'll be really busy and prolly won't get home until after 5pm or so...... Lewis is working the night shift this go round and he has to report to work by 7pm.....So that leaves no time for celebrating the day or even really seeing each other :(

I suggested that we just have our Valentine's day early, so Saturday we celebrated the day for Lovers! I wasn't all the way sure about what I should get him since he is one of those people who can buy WHATEVER the want when they want it... so I decided to cater to his complaints ::which are always his back and his feet hurt:: and got him a gift certificate for a men's spa package. He gets some foot treatment, a full body brush scrub and a 30 minute full body massage ::bonus cause when I do it, it only lasts about 7 minutes.... tops lol::  He seemed really excited about it so I guess I did a good job!

Guess what my baby got me????? No really, guess! Okay, since you won't I'll tell ya......

A KINDLE FIRE!!!!!!!! Yeps, I came home from school Thursday and it was sitting on the bed....I almost fell out! Lol. This thing is the bomb.com okay? Not only can you read books, but it basically does everything an ipad or a tablet would do ::except take pics, but that's more than fine with me::. That means I can surf the web, watch movies or tv shows, play games and if nothing else.... read books! I had said something about wanting one earlier in the week since I hadn't found a library here in S.A yet and I highly doubted if they had the type of books I wanted to read. I knew with a Kindle, I could download any book I wanted.... I just didn't know I would have it so soon! Awh, my Honeybun does listen :) I flippin love that thing, and Lewis loves that I love it. Thanks baby!

On Saturday we ended up having a nice breakfast and after I studied for a little while, we found this family fun park place called Green Acres Golf and Games. They had all kinds of stuff to do out there: an arcade, 2 miniature golf courses, bumper boats, batting cage, and go-karts. The wind chill made it crispy cold outside despite it being a very pretty day so we just played a round a golf ::which I almost sucked at::  and raced on the go-kart track....I was beating his butt until this little girl came outta nowhere and made a 3 kart pile up in which I was a part of! It was too much fun! We decided to go see Safe House after that and then headed to the house with some take out food ....... An excellent day if you ask me! I wish I could've trusted somebody with my camera at that place so we could get some pics though, I really wanted to show how much fun we had... Next time tho!

I love being a big kidd and I'm glad that Lewis wanted to be one with me yesterday.... it made for such a cute day out with My Love! Hopefully we can do more stuff like that whenever he's home...

Is gone for the next 2 weeks :'(

For those that don't know, Lewis is an oilfield mechanic at a company here in San Antonio. He works on the diesel trucks out there and the equipment they use to do their job. He got picked to go out on location to supervise the equipment for 2wks somewhere near Mexico. Lewis doesn't know whether this is just a one-time deal, going to happen periodically or if this becomes his regular schedule....we'll find out when he comes back.

I miss him already :-/
He didn't really want to go, but he knows that the extra money can go towards paying off his apt in Tyler faster, as well as other things. And we need to be saving for the wedding..... so, it's for the better.

I hope he stays safe while he's out there.... the drug war out in and near Mexico is worse than ever.
But my boo PACKS HEAT (doyahearme?)..... he'll be fine :)

Update on my friend from yesterday:
She told me her bf claimed he was elected "wingman" by his buddy and had to play along in order for the friend to get in good with a girl...... and he didn't say anything cause he didn't want it to look suspicious. 
NOT SAYING ANYTHING MAKES YOU LOOK SUSPICIOUS.... duh.


I personally don't believe that horse ish..... but I told my friend to stay on top of that situation.... SMDH.
