It's been a few weeks since the wedding and the hype seems like it's officially died down surrounding it. We're business as usual, both back to work and school for me in a few weeks. I tackled the dreaded name change game- driving back and forth and all over town to the different places to submit name change forms..... don't even get me started on the waiting game I had to play at the smallest Social Security office IN THE WORLD just to change my name on my card. I told Lewis he needed to be thankful that he didn't have to change his name and go through any of this madness I had to endure.... ish was for the birds. I digress.
After all that "excitement" was over, I was just sitting on the couch one afternoon and I found myself thinking:
"So..... now what happens?"
What is my next step as a wife? Where do I go from this point? Silly me thought there was this checklist that all new wives get tucked into their wedding bands to refer to. Nope! So I guess that means I'm wingin' it, right?
Since there is no special protocol to life after your wedding, I think I am just going to update my life. Yea, that's what I'll do! I need to anyways, and what better excuse to do that than getting married! What I plan to do is pick out a few areas in my life that need updating and make them part of my personal goals for the rest of 2013. I'll make it a series here on the blog to stay motivated and try to get as many, if not all of them updated before the year is over.
Time to shake things up.....

Weekend plans
1 exam down, 3 more to go! And if I keep making grades like the one I made this week, the other exams should be something to look forward to!!
Since I unofficially don't have to study for anything this weekend (I should ALWAYS be studying, but I just took an exam and I don't have the next one for another week and a half) my weekend plans are as follows:
- Finish my critical thinking paper
- Clean up the house
- Pay bills
- Run errands that I've been putting off because of studying
- Treat myself to some retail therapy
- Wash my hair
- Workout......
In no particular order of course! My favorite item on that list: Retail therapy! Lewis told me I could get myself something nice.... on him! Love that man :)
After all that is said and done it's back to just chilling at home, surfing the web and preparing for my next week of work, clinical and class.
Hope you all have a dashing weekend!!!! Do you have any plans this weekend?

Oh, Saturday....
Yesterday afternoon proved to be a little challenging at work..... Was floated from a stable unit to an extremely busy floor where I was pulled from one end to the next for the remainder of my shift! My poor feet hurt so bad when I got home..... I just shower, ate and tumbled into bed. Woke up and realized I had a number of things to do. Eye exam. Bank. Wash clothes. Wash dishes. Clinical project. Study. At first glance it's not really a long list..... but the trick is that they are all time consuming tasks.
Man, it's Saturday!
So I ended up doing most of it, cause by the time I completed items #1 and #2 it was already 1 p.m lol. I tried to work on my project (some more cause I've already started it) but I kept getting distracted by hunger. Quickly nixed the idea coming to the conclusion that since I am at my greatest study/task completion/motivation potential in the morning, I should probably tackle that tomorrow after church when I would still be fresh (Lewis reminded me that I tend to turn off my "student mind" around 3 or 4 o'clock everyday and I am no good to focus on school stuff beyond that without massive conscious effort) along with studying. I did the rest though. This is pretty random but to my apt dwellers who use the community laundry room: do you guys ever notice that on the weekends it seems like EVERYBODY in the entire complex is washing clothes? No seriously, it's like a madhouse on the weekends....I was thinking earlier as I watched two ladies make a mad dash towards the SAME last available washer "doesn't anybody get a day off during the week anymore?" Eh.
Hope you guys are having a fantabulous Saturday and enjoy the rest of your weekend! Oh, happy Superbowl'n too!

Updating my wardrobe
For the past few months whenever we get invited to go out somewhere or I have an impromptu meet up with the girls I find myself standing in the closet frustrated because the current clothes in my closet don't match the style I am trying to go for that night.... and hasn't for a long while. I am on a personal quest to get my wardrobe to match the point I am in my life right now. Most of the clothes I own are outdated and probably too small. It is safe to say that I have more than likely outgrown the stage in my life that my clothes reflect. The problem is that I SUCK at shopping and I have no idea how to even begin to choose a style to follow...... Thank GOD for Google! I typed in the search box the "must have items a woman should have in her closet" just to get a look at some the staple items I should (already but don't) own and to sort of give me a guide into updating. Here are a few I ran across:
Black Blazer. "A tailored blazer is classic, feminine and looks great on all body types. Pair it with anything: jeans, little dresses, trousers, skirts. Make sure to find one that fits you well and accentuates your waist—you don't want it to look like it's swallowing you!" - Courtesy of Instyle.com
Black pencil skirt. Is figure flattering and can be paired with any style top for an always polished finish. The one I used to have has become too small so it's time to replace it....
Little Black Dress (LBD). Apparently every woman should have one, it's sort of a go-to item because you can change up the accessories and shoes and it becomes a totally different outfit every time you wear it.
Cute pajamas. I just thought to myself "why don't I own some cute sleep clothes?" Too bad I wasn't aware that big old t-shirts aren't always sexy to sleep in ...... Lewis had to inform me lol
Khaki pants. I know you are probably like "why in the world would she need khaki pants, is she trying to get a job at Target?" No, but khaki pants are all-season, can work in various outfits and are really cheap to update! I owned some at one point but I never thought to repurchase....
These are some of the items that were repeatedly suggested to have in a woman's wardrobe along with other essentials like a white button down shirt, cute flats and a black handbag. With these things I'm sure I can spin off an array of fun, sexy and casual outfits to help me as I evolve into this stage of womanhood I feel as though I am entering now.
What do you think? Do you have any of these items in your closet already? Anything else you think I should incorporate into my wardrobe?

Out with the old....
Me and the Hubby-to-be have been recently chatting up new furniture. We currently are sitting on the bachelorette/college furniture that I owned before we met and I'll be honest....... it's not very company/entertainment friendly. It's basically a little couch that lets out into a futon and a side little butterfly chair. So if more than 2 people decide they want to come over and hang out, there won't be any where for anybody to sit! O.o Uhm yea, It's definitely time to UPGRADE to some more grown up furniture pieces. Lol.
Did a little internet shopping and we came across a style like this:
It also comes with a love seat. I think it will be just what me need as OUR first living room set. They have these at rent-a-center. Now I'm not a rent-to-own person, actually I hate the idea of knowing that we would end up paying way over the original price by making weekly payments. But they have a "90 day same as cash" option that we can do and it doesn't cost any extra money. And that makes me excited!
Now All I gotta do is get rid of the old and make room for the new stuff. I decided to put the couch for sell over on craigslist this morning and I've already gotten a few offers! Wow, that makes it so much more real for me.... I think I'm going to miss my old couch :(
Cue Hi-C's "Graduation" hit......

House guests
Lewis texted me yesterday afternoon while he was at work and here's how the convo goes:
Him: What you doing?
Me: About to go get some replacement plates ( lost my license plate on the interstate few days ago) what's up?
Him: Just asking......
Me: Alritey
Him: My co-worker just told me he was coming over tomorrow after work...
Me: Why?
Him: IDK
Me: Wait.... that means I have to cook!
Him: Lol I guess babe
Me: O__o
THIS guy....... smh.
First of all, what kind of co-worker just INVITES THEMSELVES over to somebody else's house? When Lewis got home I was like " what sparked this convo of him coming by?" He just looked at me and shrugged his shoulders and then said "oh, his wife is coming too"...... HOLD UP. So you agreed to us having a dinner party? What will I cook? How should I dress? What if they don't like what I make? What if they look around our apartment like " they could definitely do better"......... I was freaking out :::in my mind not actually, I'm too cool for that:::
After I calmed down a bit, I decided that I was going to do the best I could with what I had. I can go pick up some meat to make for dinner and I'd cleaned up a great deal yesterday cause we brought back a lot of stuff from Lewis' apartment in Tyler over Christmas holidays. I still need to straighten up a little bit more and pick out something to wear..... What do you wear to these kinds of things? Can you tell this is my first time? I'm so new to this whole wifey/hostess thing, and of course Lewis is going to expect me to have it ALL in order when he gets off without any of his help.
Men.
Lucky for him, I'm cool in a short-notice-situation...... Right?
:)
I'll let you know what I wore and how everything turned out....
