What I've been up to lately

So I mentioned in my previous post that I've had a lot of things going on the reason why I had been so absent on the blog scene, but I wasn't specific at all so..... Guess what time it is? Sharing time :)

Some of you know back in October I finished RN school after a long 2 yr mind torturing session journey and not even two weeks after I finished I received my specialized code allowing me to schedule my test...... so I did and began studying for the state board exam (NCLEX-RN). At the time I felt as though I was ready and my pinning ceremony was coming up so I decided that scheduling my test in early Dec would be good timing as I could already be an RN when I walked the stage. Hmmp, wishful thinking. Long story short, I ended up not passing my board exam and to rub salt in my wound I had to keep repeating the results to everybody that knew I had taken it. It was hard blow to my pride man! I really wanted to be working by the beginning of the year...... but I guess that was out of the picture.

After waiting my mandatory 45 days to retest, I was able to schedule another exam and this time around I was a lot more calm and mentally prepared for the test. I felt very confident in myself and it showed while I tested.......and for that reason (and by the grace of God) I am now a licensed nurse!!!!!! I am thrilled to be able to start my career as an RN and I can't wait to share work stories :)

THAT'S NOT ALL......

In the midst of my studying and preparing for the test(s) we decided to take the plunge and look for and purchase a house. It went fairly smoothly, our Realtor was phenomenal in helping us find a home that we could grow into....... but the loan process was absolutely terrible. Let's just say I am more than glad it's over and done! So most of January was spent studying/packing and now we are currently still unpacking and getting things settled into our new home. I'm no interior designer so decorating the house may prove to be a bit of a challenge for me; thank God for pintrest lol

So I am a new nurse and new home owner, that's what I've been up to lately...... What about you? How you guys been? What you been up to?

It was all good this way

Happy friggin' Monday!!

LMAO.... who makes these???? I must know!

The past week has definitely zipped past me!
It's crazy how when you are enjoying the people in your presence the days just sort of mush together til you look up and time is up...... where is this lightning fast time when school is in??? Guess it only works when you are actually having fun.....WOMP. Lol

I thoroughly enjoyed my mother being down here with us this past week. It was her first time out here in San Antonio and I wanted to make sure she had a grandiose time! We took in the sights, hung out at a late night bingo session  ::didn't win though, dammint!:: chilled poolside with a cookout going on in the background.... the whole nine. At the end of the week I was wishing she could stay a few more days just to see some more stuff but at the same time ready for her to head home cause I was worn out from being hostess back to back.....I'm not wrong, am I?

My mommy and me :)

The best part of the week was when I got to play dress up and try on a few bridal gowns!! Here are a few I tried on:

The consultant wanted me to stay with the fit-and-flare/mermaid/trumpet style cause of my body shape......I tried on like 20 dresses that day! I could see myself is some of them, but none of these spoke to me the way one of the dresses did.....so I RANG THAT BELL!!!! Yep, that's right I found my dress; this just got so much more real for me....... I would put a pic up but I don't want to spoil it just yet, gotta get the suspense going lol. And we couldn't have picked a better time to come in cause David's bridal is having their "Semi-Annual Sale" and I got $100 off of my dress. Jackpot! Plus I got to  put it on layaway since they had my size in the store, saving my daddy some money
::cause he's the one buying it lol::

Such a happy gal right now! Now that the gown is out of the way, I need to focus on invitations/save the dates and what the wedding party is going to wear..... Have I posted wedding colors? I think I have, I'll have to check but just in case I did not they will be Purple (regency) and Red (apple) with gold accents......Yeas, we are out there lol but I think once it's all pulled together it will be fabulous!!

Welp, guess that's it for now...... Have a great Monday :)

Out with the old....

Me and the Hubby-to-be have been recently chatting up new furniture. We currently are sitting on the bachelorette/college furniture that I owned before we met and I'll be honest....... it's not very company/entertainment friendly. It's basically a little couch that lets out into a futon and a side little butterfly chair. So if more than 2 people decide they want to come over and hang out, there won't be any where for anybody to sit! O.o Uhm yea, It's definitely time to UPGRADE to some more grown up furniture pieces. Lol.

Did a little internet shopping and we came across a style like this:

It also comes with a love seat. I think it will be just what me need as OUR first living room set. They have these at rent-a-center. Now I'm not a rent-to-own person, actually I hate the idea of knowing that we would end up paying way over the original price by making weekly payments. But they have a "90 day same as cash" option that we can do and it doesn't cost any extra money. And that makes me excited!

Now All I gotta do is get rid of the old and make room for the new stuff. I decided to put the couch for sell over on craigslist this morning and I've already gotten a few offers! Wow, that makes it so much more real for me.... I think I'm going to miss my old couch :(

Cue Hi-C's "Graduation" hit......
