It's the weekend!

And I am MOST DEFINITELY glad about it!

This will be my first full weekend off in a solid month! I pray my job doesn't call me and ask if I could come in to cover a shift; cause as much as it makes me feel bad about saying no..... I would flat out tell them no lol. I plan to do some much needed things around my house and just enjoy not having to be holed up at work during my days off. Hopefully the weather isn't tripping and I can enjoy some sun :)

How I spent the weekend

This post is about a day late but nevertheless I will post it anyways!

How I spent the weekend:

Community Service with the church young adult Mix Ministry..... So much fun!

And a bunch of chilling..........

I started clipping coupons a few weeks back and I was excited about going to the store to use them; you know get to the register like on extreme couponing and end up only paying like $.45? Yea, that didn't happen to me....... If anything I spent TOO MUCH money on things I didn't need all because I had a coupon for it lol 

One of the coupons was for Wet n' Wild cosmetics and as I was searching for something cheap to buy I came across their Megaslicks balm stain. 

I'm excited about this because I've wanted to try a crayola stick color for a while <---- that's what I call all the lip colors that are shaped like pre-k crayolas lol  This one is called "Rico Mauve" and it looks pretty sheer on my lips.

I already want to try another shade..... to see how it will show up on my lips. I feel like it's time for me to step out of my comfort zone and dabble in color! Watch out na!

It's a great sunny day outside and I'm stuck inside trying to finish up presentation material and study for an exam..... all while trying not to cough up a lung or blow my eyeball out through my nose. Seriously, who catches a cold in 97 degree weather? Apparently me! I've been miserable for the past 2 days.....thankfully the worst is over.........

Despite my "woe is me" attitude, I just wanted to show you guys some weekend love!!! Hope the weekend brings you rest and feel good vibes.... like the ones below!

Mega millions drawing is tonight....... Who bought a ticket or 3? Lol...... Have you seen the lines on television for a ticket?? My goodness gracious people are SERIOUS about that 600 mil!!! Don't let this post fool you, I'm right with those people I bought 2 tickets myself hell. I would've spent those $4 on something irrelevant anyways......So why not?

Weekend plans

1 exam down, 3 more to go! And if I keep making grades like the one I made this week, the other exams should be something to look forward to!!

Since I unofficially don't have to study for anything this weekend (I should ALWAYS be studying, but I just took an exam and I don't have the next one for another week and a half) my weekend plans are as follows:

• Finish my critical thinking paper
• Clean up the house 
• Pay bills
• Run errands that I've been putting off because of studying
• Treat myself to some retail therapy
• Wash my hair
• Workout......

In no particular order of course! My favorite item on that list: Retail therapy! Lewis told me I could get myself something nice.... on him! Love that man :)

After all that is said and done it's back to just chilling at home, surfing the web and preparing for my next week of work, clinical and class.

Much needed break

I have been thoroughly enjoying this mini-break I'm on!! I had my finals the earlier part of this week and my next class doesn't start until next Wednesday, which has gives me about 5-6 days of free time to do whatever lol. And the timing was perfect because Lewis got his week off the day I finished my final and goes back to work the day I start school, which means that we get to spend some much needed time together without me having to worry about school or work..... YASSSS :)

Today we got together with some of our coupled up friends from church and had lunch at this really nice shopping center/mall and then just sort of hung out, sight seeing and enjoying the pretty weather. It was nice to hang out with other couples, and also nicer for me cause I hadn't really gotten to experience the couple date before. For making good grades in my classes, Lewis let me pick out any pair of shoes I wanted so I got some Jessica Simpson heels..... This is the start of a beautiful relationship..... I'm already in love with the shoes!

Lewis and I are trying to get the most out of out week together: we recently picked out our wedding rings, plan to sit down and make a semi-final guest list, going to get him fixed for his tuxedo....and lay around be lazy together..... He wanted me to know that I was supposed to give him all my attention while he was home. lol such a man baby.

Now more than ever am I trying to get more girlier...... After being called "basic" by my friend while shopping I became fully aware of how, for lack of a better word, BASIC I really was in a fashion sense. I tend to gravitate more towards comfortable, generic style clothing and I really want to get away from that..... I just don't know how! So I am slowly working towards finding my own little style and building on it. Pray for me lol......


We've had a pretty great day, and now Lewis is out with his friend for a while so I guess I'll get dinner going and just chill out for the rest of the evening......

Idle Chit Chat

Today has been mildly eventful for me. I woke up early thinking I would get go ahead and get a head start on washing clothes (since the laundry room gets busy on the weekends) but I actually just ended up lounging in bed for a little over an hr before starting.... I owed that to myself for studying hard all week for my exams and my long day at work yesterday. Today I thought I would chill out and take time to do some of the things I have been putting off lately but here I am, 12hrs later and I've only really accomplished 2 1/2 things on my mental list.......Ugh, weekend why have you betrayed me????

Good news though: Lewis comes home to "visit" tomorrow. I hate saying that he visits, but he's technically been at work most of the year which (in my mind) constitutes him coming home visiting......I digress from that. Although I have school, we plan to make the most of the time that he's home.

Omgoodness! The Walking Dead! Is anybody as addicted to it as I am? Last weeks' episode had me biting my nails in frustration..... how dare the Govna'! Can't wait til the newest episode comes on this week!

Have you ever bought something in a store and a few days/weeks later found the same something online for cheaper?  Well did you then order that something and proceed to return the one that you bought in the store? This has happened to me recently and it bothers me to return the item after opening and using it, BUT it won't bother me to get my $50 back and only spend $8 online!!!! You know what? I actually feel better already......

I need to do an update on Operation: All wedding everything..... Look for it coming up!

Week re-cap

School this week was something like a breeze! I can't really figure out why though, just seemed to flow very well and speed through. I think the fact that my Love bug came home for a few days had a lot to do with it :) Gosh I missed him so.......

I had a pretty busy week at school. I had to present my teaching project in clinical and I'm so glad I made the right move to go first among the presenters! I say that because the other people had handouts in COLOR ink and poster boards with animations while all they had to look at for my presentation was my beautiful face lol. There was no way I was topping that if I let them go before me..... Whew! Dodged that bullet.

I had an exam this week also. I felt pretty confident about the material, so I felt really confident about the test. Thankfully I passed that with no worries! A lot of the other students weren't too thrilled with the exam or their grades..... Blessed that I wasn't one of them.

Our church is studying from a book that talks about finances and how to set yourself up to become wealthy. It was written by one of our own church members Bro. Arthur Toole III. I think it has some valuable information worth looking into, especially for the growing young adult- like myself. It's not a how-to book per se, but it does put ideas in your head that you hadn't thought about. The book is called Don't eat from the F.I.G tree, I think everyone should definitely look into it!

After all the hustle and bustle of the week, I decided to take Friday as my day to just sort of mellow out. I didn't have work or school so I was pretty much free to do whatever........I ended up being very unproductive lol. I filed my taxes that morning (E-file with Turbo Tax!) and then I sort of awkwardly walked around the mall for about 2hrs trying to shop. I think I walked into about 8 or 9 stores in total and bought nothing! I was disappointed in myself. I hate shopping, but I want clothes! Crazy right? After that I had a datenight aka "girls night out" with my friend to a burger joint followed by heading to a Spoken Word event. I'd never heard Spoken Word live before then and although my friend told me the show wasn't all that good, I really enjoyed just getting dressed up and being out of the house. The things we look forward to......

Today, I plan to start studying a little bit and also gathering information for my NEXT presentation that is due in 2wks...... Followed by doing a bunch of NOTHING lol

I love weekends, the only time you can turn your mind off during different times of the day and everyone is okay with it!

Oh, Saturday....

Yesterday afternoon proved to be a little challenging at work..... Was floated from a stable unit to an extremely busy floor where I was pulled from one end to the next for the remainder of my shift! My poor feet   hurt so bad when I got home..... I just shower, ate and tumbled into bed. Woke up and realized I had a number of things to do. Eye exam. Bank. Wash clothes. Wash dishes. Clinical project. Study. At first glance it's not really a long list..... but the trick is that they are all time consuming tasks. 

Man, it's Saturday!

So I ended up doing most of it, cause by the time I completed items #1 and #2 it was already 1 p.m lol. I tried to work on my project (some more cause I've already started it) but I kept getting distracted by hunger. Quickly nixed the idea coming to the conclusion that since I am at my greatest study/task completion/motivation potential in the morning, I should probably tackle that tomorrow after church when I would still be fresh (Lewis reminded me that I tend to turn off my "student mind" around 3 or 4 o'clock everyday and I am no good to focus on school stuff beyond that without massive conscious effort) along with studying. I did the rest though. This is pretty random but to my apt dwellers who use the community laundry room: do you guys ever notice that on the weekends it seems like EVERYBODY in the entire complex is washing clothes? No seriously, it's like a madhouse on the weekends....I was thinking earlier as I watched two ladies make a mad dash towards the SAME last available washer "doesn't anybody get a day off during the week anymore?" Eh.

Happy Saturday folks! I hope you guys are having a great weekend whether it be by shopping running errands, cleaning, or lounging around the house (I've actually done a mixture of all of these things today)

Today makes 60 days that I have been taking the Mineral Rich energy drink that I talked about HERE. I FINALLY scheduled a relaxer for next week so I'll show my length and talk about my progress then. I do feel like I have gained and retained some good length so I'm really excited to see what this relaxer holds for me!

Spur of the moment anyone??

Although the last time I was here I claimed I wouldn't be coming back anytime soon........ my acute boredom led me to Hubs-to-be workplace town yesterday.

It's actually better this time around than the last. I've been studying out in the Blazin' heat and I even hit up the Kickapoo casino earlier. ::I hit $120 on the penny machines while I was there... played back sixty of it, and lost lol::  Also Lewis isn't being so over protective and letting me scout about freely; Sa-weet!


 We are sposed to walk across the border tonight.... I'm super excited about that! I'll make sure and post some pics as we take them too!

Ready for the weekend!

Despite having a horrible day the other day, it's Friday and I am here at my friends house geting ready to celebrate her bday!! It's going to be a 2 day event and I plan to have a lot of fun. Although I had to drive 4 long hrs to get here and it felt like I was never going to get off the road.... I'm excited to be around all my friends once again and not be lonely for a weekend :)

We are supposed to go out to eat tonight and then hit a club called Beamers in Dallas. I haven't been to a club in sooo long, I don't know how to dress for one now! Matter of fact, what's trending at the moment? I LIVE in scrubs so I have no idea ::sad for my social life:: I brought some goin out clothes but I wasn't sure so hopefully my friend will guide me in the right direction on that one.

Good news!! My clinical teacher told us yesterday that they were supposed to have a meeting about the exam because so many students did poorly on it (ME, HELLO!) Well it turns out that they ended up omitting 6 questions on the exam for a possible 12pts added to your grade..... I got all 12! I mean, it sux that I got all those questions wrong but its YAY that my grade went up 12 points! I was over it that day but now I feel A LOT more confident about being able to pass this class; super thankful.

Welp, we got some running around to do before time to get ready so.... CIAO! Oh and if you haven't seen this video...... "Your welcome" for the laugh cause I promise your about to thank me :)

It's Friday!

TGIF folks! I've been wrapped up this week with... a little of this and that. But I am going to take this coming up weekend and focus on my needs and wants cause I'll be starting back school next week!! 


Yep, nursing school will be in FULL swing come Tuesday. I'm a lil antsy about it, I want to do WAY better than last semester and I know that can only happen if I stay on top of my assigned readings AND do my outside studying.....I hate studying though; this shall be interesting.


I dedicate this last free weekend to pampering myself which includes shopping, pedicures and other goodies :) this is MUCH needed as I haven't done anything like this for myself in EONS ::<------ yea, soooo a word:: I hope I still know how to shop, I'm a LOT rusty :s Should be fun nonetheless!!
