Vent session

I've been very busy lately. Trying to organize my life and get a routine down since I'm a working gal now...... It's still a bit of a struggle. I'm too tired most days to do housework and that further makes me feel as though I'm not on the ball with managing my time. *Sigh* I need to get it together.

I believe I'm still in what's called the "transitional phase." Phasing out of being a student with lots and LOTS of time on my hands to clean and manage the home, available for my husband at all times and eager to do at the drop of a hat among numerous other things.... to a career woman with less time spent in the house and more time spent away. To be honest, I don't know how much I like it right now. This very well could be me just struggling with the fact that I haven't mastered my organization strategy yet, and with due time I'll get it all down in a way that satisfies me. Until then..... just keep me in your prayers!

I know it's only a matter of time before everything will smooth itself out.....right now it just seems chaotic in my eyes. What a journey!

My first real DIY project

I've always been sort of a big craft and diy lurker. My favorite TV station is HGTV and I follow numerous craft bloggers and board on diy boards on Pintrest..... but I hadn't really done anything major in the crafting department..... maybe just painted a bucket or something small like fix up a poster board. Since we moved into our house though I felt like it was time for me to flex my craft muscle and attempt some stuff that I've been longing to do for a while. But what? Thinking, thinking, thinking..... GOT IT!

I decided to re-upholster my chair. Who has time for baby steps? Lol

About a year ago, I bought this old fashion chair for our living room because at the time we only had a 1 couch for everybody who ever came over to sit on. And if 5 people decided to come by that day.... 2 people wouldn't have a place to sit. The chair is pretty sturdy and feels good to sit in, it just looked fugly.

After about a year of undecided feelings, mixed in with life and new found time on my hands I finally pulled the trigger on attempting to re-fabric the chair. After doing some research and purchasing the fabric, I started the daunting task of taking off the fabric.

I will not lie to you, this is (in my opinion) the HARDEST part of the entire project! I promise their had to be like 10,000 staples in this chair and they were in the oddest places. What was more frustrating was that just when I thought I was finished pulling them all.... I would find another :(

I read that it's best to pay attention to how the fabric came off, so that you know how to put the new fabric on. There were some areas that I couldn't remember so I had to wing it.... oh well. Once I stripped all the old fabric, I simply placed the patterns against my new fabric and cut it to fit. After that I ironed my fabric so that is was wrinkle free, and began covering the chair section by section..... VOILA!

Not bad for my first time, right?

I can't wait to attempt another diy craft! :)

April!

Seeing as March ran out of here just as fast as February, it's time to reflect on last months goals and create new ones!!

If you are wondering what goals I created for myself for the month of March, visit this link.

Let's see how I did:
Apply for at least 3 jobs a week. I went a little up and beyond. I was applying like crazy to different places..... guess persistence finally paid off cause I got me a J-O-B now! Bee Starks, RN :)
Go to the gym 2x a week. I started off really good with this, shoot I was even in there more than that..... but by the middle/end of the month with me starting a new position and doing different hours, the gym was the last thing on my mind. FAIL.
Buy one complete outfit. FAIL. What I meant by complete outfit was like the clothes and shoes, maybe some accessories..... I only ended up buying myself a dress on the fly; honestly for no reason at all lol I'm in this weird dress phase *shrugs*
Have 2 hot dates with hubby. We only ended up having one of these....... we didn't get the fit in another one :(
Drink 1 liter of water a day. FAIL FAIL FAIL!  I'm slightly ashamed.
Start and complete one project. Did that! I'm so proud of my work :) separate post on it soon!

That was last month, here's Aprils goals:

  • Drink 1 liter of water a day. Let's try this again shall we?
  • Start and complete another project. Hey, I'm still on a high from the first one, why stop now? This has ignited a crafting fire inside of me that can only be put out by completing more lol.
  • Go to gym at least 2x a week. Setting this one again because I know I can find time to hit the gym somewhere.
  • Do something extremely nice for myself. I don't really treat myself to anything nice anymore. Years ago I used to really go all out for me every once in a while; not really sure what happened. I am going to make it my mission to get back to that point starting this month.
  • Finish decorating one room in the house completely. We've been in the house now for 2 months and not one room has been decorated entirely smh.....

I feel like I'm keeping with the whole "spring cleaning" concept of the season with wanting to complete and shape stuff up..... interesting thought process!

Those were my goals for April, do you have any? Share them with me down in the comment section!
