My hair..... semi-currently.

So remember when I posted a few weeks ago that I was uber frustrated with my hair? ::If you don't it's okay, here's the link:: Well a few days later on a whim I decided to quit whining and do something about it......  STRAW CURLS.

Right after I took them out......

After about 3 days, I started to separate them.

Although you can blatantly see my new growth courtesy of the flash on my phone and they don't look the best/professionally done, I think this hairstyle did a good job of giving my hair a fresh look. It was a much needed changed from the everyday bun/clip routine I had fallen into. All I used was a cap full of setting lotion (that blue liquid in a spray bottle full of water) Smooth Shine Polishing foam mousse (got mine from Family Dollar store for $2.75), drinking straws and bobby pins. This hair style lasted me a week; from Labor Day until this past Monday. The only reason why I took it down was because I had separated the front so much that they were starting to lose definition, other wise they would still be up.

Currently 7wks post now..... Got 5 more wks and I will be relaxing. I may have to revisit this style in the future.

What ya think? Did I do a good job? Have any tips or suggestions for other hair styles or how I could make this one last longer? COMMENT!

Drawing a blank. Almost.....

I've haven't been posting these past couple of days because.... well I haven't had much to talk about..... Any suggestions?

I went to visit my hometown over the past weekend to see my girl graduate from her Surgical Technician program ::Congrats Sham!:: and ended up staying 2 extra days. To be honest, at times I felt out of place... mainly cause I no longer live there..... Like everybody would be winding down doing their own thing and I was kinda left kicking around dirt rocks lol. But overall, I enjoyed seeing everybody again.... it's been almost 6 months.

Wedding Stuff: Still haven't fully gotten started yet.. I know sad... I'm a little scatter-brained when it comes down to it I think. I should just pick one area at a time and focus on it, that will prolly ease my overwhelmed mind. Now I just need to find my starting point.......

Life: Guess what? I think I'm wearing ole Lewis down about another puppy!! This morning he told me that he wanted a girl dog but he was goin to wait til after we move into a bigger place... YEAS!!

I want to make our apt a little bit more home-like so I am slowly going to liven up each room.... starting with the living area. Got a few plans for it that I will share with you guys as they come together.

Still looking for a lil summer job, I may head to some of the temp services and see what they have available.

I think I may have myself a little plan!

And it begins: Protective styles

As I talked about in a previous post I have decided to go on a protective style kick. It starts today and I want to see if I can last until then end of my school semester [first week of May]..... that's about 8wks. Can I do it? We are definitely about to find out! The goal I want to achieve out of this is to retain as much length as possible; I'm sure I can.

You know how everybody has a hair growth spurt during sometime of the year? Well I believe that mine is between Feb and Aug.....yea, it's pretty long! And now that I'm in a city where from March til October it's HELLA HOT most of the time, I should see some really good growth. Cross ya fingers for me:)

I DC'd and co-washed my hair yesterday and ended up doing a semi-protective style for the week. I say semi because some of the ends of my hair are still exposed but its not touching anything. That means it's not protective right? ::shrugs shoulders:: .......... Eh. Anyways here is the hairstyle:

In the back all I did was part the back section from ear to ear, put it in a ponytail and pull the pony upwards to connect it to the next sectioned off piece of hair. Basically it was all up and tucked away except for the top ponytail and the piece I pulled to created the fullness of the curls. ::These are straw curls btw.... hence the drinking straw still in my hair lol::

SN: This actually ended up being a fail for me! I didn't leave enough hair out so the curls looked really spaced out to me....Even after I separated them :(

Kinda cute? Not cute? Ya'll let me know! I'm still trying to gather some more inspiration for protective styles too so if you know any don't hesitate to share!!!
